A 20-YEAR-OLD man accused of raping his stepsister several times was arrested by local police in Lapu-Lapu City on Tuesday, June 21, 2022.

Personnel from the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) Lapu-Lapu City Field Unit and Lapu-Lapu City Police Station 3 in Gun-ob headed by Capt. Nigel Sanoy arrested Edward (not his real name) based on a pending warrant of arrest for five counts of rape.

Edward was arrested at his house in Sitio Camansi, Barangay Pajo on Tuesday, June 21.

Judge Jose Alfonso Maliper Gomos of the Regional Trial Court Branch 5 in Lapu-Lapu City issued the warrant of arrest. No bail amount was recommended for the accused.

The arrest was part of the “Oplan Pagtugis” anti-criminality operation of the CIDG against wanted persons in their jurisdiction.

Edward has been listed at the Lapu-Lapu City Station 3 as its most wanted person due to his pending rape case.

Sanoy told SunStar Cebu that Edward, along with his father, was charged in 2020 for raping his 16-year-old stepsister.

According to witnesses, the 16-year-old victim’s mother decided to transfer her to Lapu-Lapu City after remarrying Edward’s father.

But the girl instead suffered sexual abuse from both her stepfather and stepbrother while she was staying with them in Lapu-Lapu City, Sanoy added.

Fed up with the abuse, the girl eventually decided to tell her mother what had happened to her.

Both women eventually filed complaints against Edward and his father.

Edward’s father is still at large, Sanoy added.
