Man dies after vehicle hits Ceres bus in Mandaue

A van driver died after his vehicle hit a Ceres bus at corner Ouano Avenue and E.O. Perez Street in Barangay Subangdaku, Mandaue City at 5:20 a.m. today, Feb. 18, 2021.

The driver was identified as Christopher Dono, 37, from Ibo, Tacan, Lapu-Lapu City. The Ceres bus at the time was manned by Love Aviles Haluag, 44, from Soong, Lapu-Lapu City.

According to the initial investigation of the Traffic Group of the Mandaue City Police Office, Haluag came from the Ceres bus garage and traversed E.O. Perez Street going to M. Logarta Street. Dono was traversing Ouano Avenue going to Cebu City.

According to Edwin Jumao-as, head of the Traffic Enforcement Agency of Mandaue, Dono was driving so fast he hit the right side of the Ceres bus. Dono was rushed to the Mandaue City Hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.

Haluag was unharmed. There were no other casualties or injuries. Both vehicles were not carrying passengers at the time. (KFD/With NRC)
