Man hacked by neighbor whom he dared to a fight

A MECHANIC who ran amok sustained hack wounds in Sitio Cambuntan 3, Barangay Bolinawan, Carcar City, southern Cebu at 8:30 p.m. Monday, November 14, 2022.

Voltaire Baring Alegarbes, 52, got wounded in his head, hands and body after being hacked by Danilo Abbu Tecson, 69, a retired sales marketing executive and resident of the Sitio Cambuntan.

Lieutenant Colonel Ardioleto Cabagnot, chief of Carcar Police Station, said in an interview with SunStar Cebu that the suspect surrendered to responding policemen.

According to Cabagnot, Alegarbes allegedly went to the house of the suspect and dared the latter to a fight.

The victim reportedly shook the gate of the house of Tecson family, prompting the suspect and his wife to confront Alegarbes.

During their confrontation, Alegarbes tried to attack the suspect’s wife, forcing Tecson to get a bolo and hack the victim with it.

The victim was brought to the Cebu Provincial Hospital in Carcar City for treatment.

“Gisigehan niyag balikas ang suspek nag-triping sa kahubog. Mao daw ni siya magmaoy bisag kinsa atakehon (He always cursed the suspect due to his drunkenness. He would attack anybody whenever he gets awry),” Cabagnot said.

Cabagnot added the victim had been the subject of complaints by some neighbors due to his violent behavior when he got drunk.

The suspect, however, admitted to the crime.

He said he only defended himself and his family from the attacker.

The suspect will be facing a frustrated murder charge.

Cabagnot said they are still waiting for the family of the victim to file a case against the suspect. (GPL, TPT)
