Man involved in road mishap nabbed for 'shabu'

A 26-year-old man engaged in a road accident ended up getting arrested after police discovered a sachet of shabu and drug paraphernalia in his motorcycle's u-box compartment in Compostela town, northern Cebu on Saturday morning, September 3, 2022.

Lieutenant Andrew Rellanos, officer-in-charge of Compostela Police Station, identified the suspect as Jesriel Autencio, of Barangay Catarman, Lilo-an town.

Rellanos said Autencio was driving his black Honda Beat motorcycle (ND 56485) towards Danao City when he accidentally hit a certain Fortunato Rosal, 62, who was standing beside the national highway in Barangay Canamucan, Compostela.

The incident happend around 6:30 in the morning.

Both Autencio and Rosal sustained injuries.

They were brought to Danao District hospital and now in good condition.

Autencio, who did not wear a helmet, luckily survived the fall despite hitting his head on the pavement.

Responding police discovered the illegal substance when they opened Autencio's motorcycle compartment.

The suspect is now detained at the Compostela Police Station and will face charges for reckless imprudence resulting to damage to property and physical injuries and in violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
