A MAN driving a motorcycle was shot dead during a traffic altercation on Hernan Cortes St. in Barangay Subangdaku, Mandaue City on Monday, Aug. 8, 2022.

The victim was identified as 45-year-old Roberto Estandarte, a resident of Gentle Breeze in Barangay Subangdaku.

Lt. Col. Franco Rudolf Oriol, deputy city director for operation and spokesman of the Mandaue City Police Office, told reporters on Tuesday, Aug. 9, that Estandarte had a run-in with the driver of a four-wheeled vehicle, which nearly hit the victim and his passenger.

Oriol said the driver of the four-wheeled vehicle suddenly shot Estandarte in the chest before fleeing the scene.

Before the incident happened, Estandarte had been driving his motorcycle with his partner riding in the back.

Estandarte got mad when they were almost hit by the four-wheeled vehicle around 11 p.m. Monday. He then argued with the vehicle’s driver, who later shot him from the side window and sped off.

The victim was rushed to the hospital, where he later died. His passenger was not harmed.

The gunman remains at large and unidentified.

Police will be checking the security cameras in the establishments near the crime scene to identify the culprit.
