A trip to the corner store turned out to be deadly for a construction worker who died from multiple gunshot wounds in Caloocan yesterday.
The victim, Edward Valiente, left his house last night to buy coffee and cigarettes but just as he was headed home, he was shot by a still unidentified gunman, ABS-CBN News reported.
According to the store owner, he heard the gunshots and estimate that Valiente was shot six times. He died on the scene, according to GMA News’ Balitambayan.
“He just bought coffee and cigarettes, two sticks, then he left. Five minutes had not passed when I heard a gunshot,” Philip Dacdac, a resident of the area told Balitambayan in Filipino.
The victim’s family said that they do not know of anyone who could possibly be behind the attack because Valiente did not have enemies and mostly stayed home but in an interview with Balikbayan, they said that he was a drug user.
Police are still investigating the incident.
