A 47-YEAR-OLD man was arrested for allegedly raping his 17-year-old stepdaughter in Consolacion town, northern Cebu on Tuesday morning, August 30, 2022.

The Consolacion police served the warrant of arrest issued by Judge Maria Seares of the Family Court Branch 6 in Mandaue City on July 14, 2022 with no bail recommended against Aldo (real name withheld to protect the dignity of the victim) in his residence in Barangay Poblacion.

Aldo is a carpenter by profession.

He got married to the victim's mother, who is an overseas Filipino worker, and has a five-year-old son with her.

When the girl's mother arrived in January 2022, she noticed that her daughter kept on avoiding her stepfather and had difficulty sleeping during bedtime, prompting her to ask what happened.

The girl broke down in tears and confided to her mother that she was raped by the suspect several times.

Staff Sergeant Marivic Pepito, investigator from the Women's and Children Protection Desk, said the suspect allegedly started raping his stepdaughter on October 2019.

"Una gimolestiya ni siya unya kadugayan naa na gyud penetration kada gabii. Kun matulog na moaksyon ug likay ang bata dayon mo ana ang suspek nga ‘gisuwayan ra tika ug virgin pa ba ka,’" Pepito said.

(First he molested her, then after a while, there was penetration every night. When they go to bed, the child would try to avoid and then the suspect would say ‘I'm just trying to find out if you were still a virgin.’)

The suspect has been declared as the number 5 most wanted person in the municipality after that incident.

The suspect admitted that he would rape the victim when he was drunk, adding that his stepdaughter fell in love with him as he provided all her needs and wants.

The suspect is now detained at the Consolacion Police Station. (GDC, TPT)
