Man nabbed for selling ecstasy, party drugs on Sinulog Day

A 28-YEAR-OLD suspected drug pusher was arrested after he was caught with ecstasy, shabu and cocaine on Sinulog Day on Sunday night, Jan. 15, 2023, on Governor M. Cuenco Ave. in Barangay Kasambagan, Cebu City.

Anti-illegal drug operatives of the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) identified the suspect as Omar Lamdagan Ali, 28, who was born in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia but raised in Bohol Province. Ali was temporarily staying in Avida Ayala Tower 3 on Jose Maria del Mar St., Barangay Apas, Cebu City at the time of his arrest.

Confiscated from Ali during the raid headed by Maj. Dindo Alaras of the City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) were suspected shabu worth P54,000, 27 alleged ecstasy tablets worth P45,900, and suspected cocaine of undetermined amount.

Alaras alleged that Ali is the same person who supplied suspected ecstasy to a foreign national who died due to a drug overdose in 2020 at a hotel in Barangay Busay. After the incident, Ali allegedly returned to Bohol to evade police.

Alaras said they just received information that Ali came back to Cebu for the upcoming Sinulog celebration.

CCPO Chief Col. Ireneo Dalogdog said they monitored the suspect’s movements and sighted Ali attending a party with affluent individuals in one of the high-end bars in Kasambagan.

A police asset then approached the suspect and they both agreed to do the illegal drug transaction outside the bar.

Police finally caught Ali as he handed over the illegal drugs to a poseur-buyer.

“The suspect usually hung around high-end disco bars since his customers were well-off individuals,” Dalogdog said.

After the 2020 incident, Ali was placed in the most wanted list of the Police Regional Office in Central Visayas and other law enforcement agencies.

The suspect allegedly got his illegal drug supply from Manila. (AYB / TPT)
