A MAN was arrested by operatives of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) Mandaue City Field Unit after spreading nude photos of his former live-in partner on social media.

The suspect, Jose (real name withheld to protect the victim), was nabbed at a mall in Barangay Pajo, Lapu-Lapu City in the afternoon of May 12, 2022.

Colonel Ireneo Dalogdog, head of CIDG-Central Visayas, said the suspect’s former live-in partner Iris (real name withheld) went to their office to seek help after learning that the suspect posted photos of their illicit acts on social media when she refused to reconcile with him.

The two had been living together for 12 years before they separated ways. Iris said Jose would hurt her every time he got jealous.

Iris said the suspect chatted her that he missed her a lot and that he wanted to have sex with her. He also threatened to post photos and videos of their naked bodies and share them with his friends and relatives if she would not agree to his demands.

The victim did not pay attention at first but last week she found out that the suspect had already spread their picture.

Iris said the suspect even threatened to post more nude pictures of her if she would still refuse to reconcile with him, prompting her to seek the police's help.

The CIDG Mandaue Field Unit led by Police Major Alain Jericho Cuyopan immediately conducted the entrapment operation where the two agreed to meet at a mall in Lapu-Lapu City. When Jose finally arrived, the police immediately came forward to arrest him.

“Nakita nya na yung mga nude photos at saka videos ay ipinagkalat na pala ng kanyang live in partner at tinatakot pa siya na i-blackmail, kaya naisipan nya na pumunta dito sa CIDG RFU 7 para humingi ng tulong, at agad-agad naman ang ating mga operatiba nag responde kaagad at itong suspect ay nahuli,” Dalogdog said.

(She learned that her former live-in partner had already spread their nude photos and sex videos and threatened to blackmail her, prompting her to seek help from CIDG RFU 7, which then acted on her complaint and arrested the suspect.)

The suspect will face charges for violating Republic Act 9995 or the Anti-Photo and Video Voyeurism Act of 2009 and possibly another case like violence against women and children. (AYB, TPT)
