Man nabbed for trading endangered bird species on Facebook

A MAN allegedly trading and transporting an endangered bird species through Facebook was nabbed by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Central Visayas following an entrapment operation Wednesday, October 26, 2022.

The NBI Mandaue Officials, led by agent-in-charge Arnel Pura and Senior Agent Niño Rodriguez, held a press conference on Thursday, October 27, 2022, at the NBI Mandaue Office and identified the suspect as Manolito Montemayor.

Rodriguez said the NBI received information that Montemayor was posting pictures to advertise and sell Palawan Hill Myna birds using a Facebook account, "Dodongni Dong."

The suspect was reportedly selling the birds, which are protected wildlife and classified as endangered species, from up to P12,500 per head via online messaging transaction. (HIC)
