A Mandaue City councilor passed a resolution during the Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) regular session that aims to require a sidewalk for the future road infrastructure projects in the city.

Councilor Jimmy Lumapas, chairman of the Committee on Transportation, told reporters on Monday, July 18, 2022, that he made the resolution following the suggestion of the vision-aligned program of the Mandaue City Enforcement Unit (MCEU) and the Traffic Enforcement Agency of Mandaue (TEAM).

Under the resolution, future road infrastructures will be required to have a sidewalk that will vary depending on the area where it is constructed.

For national roads, sidewalks would have to be at least three meters, two meters for city roads, and 1.5 to 1.2 meters for barangay roads.

These sidewalks must be concrete with drainage and elevated by at least eight inches, said Lumapas. (HIC)
