THE Mandaue City Council has approved the increase of honorarium for the city’s Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DRRMO) job order personnel.
City Councilor Carmelino del Mar Jr. authored the resolution seeking a higher compensation for the DRRMO workers who are under the Mandaue City Emergency Services Program and respond to any incident round-the-clock.
The resolution was approved during the City Council’s 25th regular session on Monday, Dec. 16, 2019.
“Mandaue City is highly urbanized, highly industrialized and now highly commercialized with a population of over 360,000 and population density of approximately 14,000 per square kilometer; human-induced incidents have become rampant with an average of 20 or more incidents per day and fire incidents are increasing due to the influx of informal settlers and private wage workers,” read a portion of the resolution.
The increase took effect in December, and each of the 100 DRRMO job order personnel has been receiving an honorarium of P420 per day. The previous honorarium was P380 per day.
The honorarium is sourced from the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management fund. (KFD)
