MANDAUE Lone District Representative Emmarie "Lolypop" Ouano-Dizon backed the proposal to postpone the upcoming Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) in December.

Ouano-Dizon told SunStar Cebu on Wednesday, July 6, 2022, that she filed House Bill (HB) 1254 seeking to reschedule the BSKE, which is dated December 5, 2022, to October 9, 2023, and its succeeding election to be held on May 11, 2026.

The bill was submitted to the House of Representatives on July 5.

Earlier, Cebu City North District Rep. Rachel “Cutie” del Mar had also filed HB 133 seeking to move BSKE to Dec. 4, 2023, to allow the country to concentrate on other economic programs that would be beneficial to the people.

Also on Tuesday, July 5, Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Junard “Ahong” Chan supported the postponement of BSKE, saying that having two elections in one year would be too expensive for the government as it still continues to recover from the effects of Covid-19 pandemic. (HIC)
