THE head of Cebu City’s Department of Manpower Development and Placement (DMDP) has tendered her resignation effective immediately.

Sheila Daluz, officer-in-charge of DMDP, wrote to Mayor Michael Rama on Wednesday, July 20, 2022, as she formally steps down as head of the department.

Daluz is the wife of lawyer and Metropolitan Cebu Water District (MCWD) Board chairman Jose “Joey” Daluz III.

Daluz said in her letter that she had a difficult time balancing work and life roles. Daluz realized that she is “highly needed” by her family.

“As there may be others that can be a public servant to the city, there can only be one mother to my children,” said Daluz.

During her stint as head of the DMDP, the department received recognition and merit from various organizations like the Public Employment Services Office.

Rama told SunStar Cebu that he had not received the letter yet.

Rama added that he never asked Daluz to resign from her post as head of the department.

“I never asked her to resign... For me, unless it is irrevocable, she will stay,” said Rama.
