Manzo a 'welcomed addition' to Zambo's offense, says coach

ZAMBOANGA’S Cebuano head coach Britt Reroma had nothing but high praise for the arrival of former University of the Philippines point guard Jun Manzo, who he said is well suited to run a team already loaded with stars.

Reroma, the coach who led the University of San Carlos to the Cesafi title back in 2015, said they finally have a pure point guard who can run their offense.

“Jun Manzo can help us a lot. We have pure pointguard to control our offense,” said Reroma. “It will be a reunion of the former top CESAFI players.”

Manzo would now be reunited with his former teammate at the University of the Visayas.

The two players actually were together when they departed the Green Lancers camp and went to UP.

However, Santillan chose to go to La Salle while Manzo stayed and made his mark with the Fighting Maroons, leading them to the UAAP finals in 2018 and then, to the Final Four this year.

“I’m very excited to have him as a teammate once again although I won’t be playing when he suits up for his very first game as I still am injured,” said Santillan, the lanky forward from Lapu-Lapu City. “Dako kaayu ni sya ug matabang sa team.”

Reroma said Manzo’s impact would go beyond their offense especially when the likes of Santillan, Alvin Pasaol, Anton Asistio and Raffy Reyes already have to share one ball.

“Defensively we know what Jun will give us. We will be a more exciting team with Jun Manzo boarding in for our campaign this season,” added Reroma. (SunStar Cebu)
