Around 200 pieces of skull and bones scattered inside the Manila North Cemetery (MNC) had been gathered and given proper burial on Tuesday (August 13).
MNC Director Yayay Castañeda said the pieces of bones and skulls were scattered around the cemetery – along the apartment-type crypts, unmarked graves and on the roof of structures.
Castañeda said this is their way of paying respect and giving dignity to the recovered remains of those departed.
The mass burial was done after Manila Health Department chief Dr. Arnold Pangan said in a memorandum that they have no way of identifying the collected bones and skulls.
The mass grave is located at the Main Circle of the Manila North Cemetery. /mbmf
