MANILA, Philippines - Kapamilya actor Matt Evans has been arrested for allegedly beating his live-in partner.
The actor, in a report posted by Bombo Radyo Philippines Oct. 21, is now under the custody of the Pasig City Police after his partner, Johnelline Hickins, complained to the police.
According to the report, Evans came home drunk at around 11 p.m. the other day and had a heated altercation with Hickins that allegedly ended in physical violence. Hickins' brother, Juan Alberto Carlotta, tried to pacify the couple but he, too, was reportedly hit by Evans, kicking him in the face.
Hickins, as noted in the report, is a 23-old-student who had just given birth three weeks ago.
Before the incident, Hickins was planning to throw a party for Evans when he celebrates his 26th birthday on Oct. 22.
Evans is facing physical injuries and violation of R.A. 9262 or Anti-Violence Against Women.
Meanwhile, Evans' camp denies the accusation against the actor.
As posted on abs-cbnnews.com on Oct. 21, Evans' legal counsel Gerly Rico said that ''there was indeed an altercation among the three but denied that the actor injured Hickins and Carlotta.''
It was ''actually Evans,'' as Rico claimed, ''who got hurt and was even threatened with a knife.''
''Matt denies having inflicted any injury against his girlfriend or her brother. In fact, it was Matt who was hit on the leg and who was threatened with a knife,'' Rico said in a statement.
Evans or Matthew Nicolas Evans was a former housemate of ''Pinoy Big Brother: Teen Edition''. He became popular when he played the lead character in ''Komiks Presents: Da Adventures of Pedro Penduko.'' He also appeared in ''Tanging Yaman'' and ''Rosalka.''
