During the virtual conference for “Viral Scandal,” Kapamilya actress Maxene Magalona opened up about almost abandoning showbiz to pursue a career in yoga and meditation.

“That question really came to me—that if ever I was at a point in my life... that I don't have acting offers again, it's okay with me. I accept that,” she said.

After spending more than a year in Bali during last year's lockdown, Maxene shared she is now going through a time in her life where she’s learning to balance doing her work while also surrendering to God's will.

“At that time, I didn't think about whether I would have an offer or what. I wasn’t really pressuring myself or I wasn’t thinking about it,” the 34-year old actress added.

Maxene, who currently teaches meditation online, also talked about how she is a yoga instructor, compared to how she is an actress on set.

“When I am a yoga and meditation teacher, basically I’m still me but I’m just saying more informative words that will help the student,” she said.

When Maxene landed the "Viral Scandal" role, she saw it as a sign from God.

“I said to myself, 'Wow, it feels meant to be.' It was like a sign from God that I was meant to be an actor because I really do love acting,” she said.

The new Kapamilya series Viral Scandal will touch on modern social issues such as the impact of social media on society. It follows the story of Rica, portrayed by Charlie Dizon, a girl with a bright future who got involved in a sensitive viral video. Beyond the scandal, the series will also delve deeper into other social ills that would hopefully resonate with Philippine audiences.

The ensemble cast also includes other well-known names such as Jake Cuenca, Joshua Garcia and Dimples Romana.

It will premiere on ABS-CBN’s platforms this November 15.
