MCWD signs agreement with Lapu developer to develop new well

MORE households in Lapu-Lapu City will have a steady supply of potable water from Metropolitan Cebu Water District (MCWD) with the development of a new production well inside the property of real estate developer Primeworld Landholdings Inc. in Barangay Agus.

To ensure the availability of water for the tenants of Primeworld District, a resort-style community that is currently being developed, the developer offered to MCWD the use of their property for well drilling.

The well is expected to yield 360 cubic meters of water per day when it is commissioned in December.

Primeworld will initially be needing about 160 cubic meters of water per day and the excess water of 200 cubic meters will be distributed to the residential areas nearby. About 200 households will benefit from the additional supply.

The lot donation was made official with a usufruct agreement signing on July 13, 2022 at the Primeworld District in Barangay Agus.

Acting General Manager Engr. Stephen Yee of MCWD and Corporate Executive Officer Nelba Pangilinan of Primeworld Landholdings Inc. inked the agreement along with officials of both parties who acted as witnesses.

Pangilinan said they are also coordinating with MCWD for their other projects in Cebu City.

MCWD is fast-tracking its water sourcing projects to improve its water service. A bulk water supply from Lusaran will also be available in September to augment the water supply in barangays Busay, Lahug, Apas, Camputhaw and Captiol Site. Negotiations for seawater desalination projects are also ongoing. (PR)
