China's record on human rights is the main issue that divides it from the European Union and makes it a systemic rival for the bloc, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said on Tuesday. "We are strong economic competitors, without any questions, and for that we need tools," the head of the EU's executive told a news conference after talks with U.S. President Joe Biden. Ukraine need to shrug off the disappointment of conceding a stoppage-time goal in their 3-2 defeat by the Netherlands in Euro 2020 and shift the focus to the crunch game against North Macedonia on Thursday, head coach Andriy Shevchenko said. Although Shevchenko was pleased with his team's fightback, he conceded the game's relentless pace took its toll on the players.

In its ruling, the two-judge panel said Italy should resume its own proceedings against Salvatore Girone and Massimiliano Latorre. Italy had long argued that it should have jurisdiction in the case, as both were active duty military personnel at the time of the shooting.
