Meco to initiate massive power outages on Jan. 26

SOME parts of Lapu-Lapu City and Cordova town could experience 10-hour temporary power outages on Sunday, Jan. 26, 2020, as the Mactan Electric Company (Meco) is set to initiate load transfering, tapping and energization of its new subtransmission line to its feeder lines.

Meco personnel are also implementing the outages to replace rotten wooden electrical posts placed in different parts of the city.

In their advisory issued on Tuesday, Jan. 21, Meco personnel said the temporary outages were necessary especially since a total of eight feeder lines will be affected in their operations.

They added that the power interruption was necessary to prevent untoward incidents or damage to their power lines.

The outages will start at 6 a.m. Meco said they hope to restore power before 4 p.m. on the same day.

Aside from households, various establishments such as hotels and resorts in the city could be affected by the temporary outage.

Barangays in Lapu-Lapu City that are expected to be affected by the temporary outage are Barangays Agus, Babag, Basak, Bankal, Buaya, Calawisan, Gun-ob, Looc, Marigondon, Mactan, Pajac, Pajo, Poblacion, Pusok, and Subabasbas.

Cordova town areas like Sitio Babag 1 and 2, and Barangay Ibabao are expected to be affected by the outages as well.

Meco personnel urged their customers to visit their Facebook page to check if parts of their barangay will be included in the outages on Sunday. (GCM, JKV)
