AN 18-YEAR-OLD man suffering from a mental disability was murdered by an unidentified person in Barangay Can-asujan, Carcar. The victim's body was found at 11:40 p.m. Sunday, June 12, 2022.

Police identified the victim as Renante Rosales, 18, who lived with his sister and her husband in the said area. He was said to have been raised by the Department of Social Welfare and Development in Mandaue City since he was a child because of his mental disability.

Police have no clue yet who is responsible for the crime.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Ardioleto Cabagnot, Carcar Police Station chief, told Superbalita Cebu that Rosales was earlier spotted by his neighbors Rovelyn Mangubat and Dan Dave Lauron heading home from his visit to his aunt's house.

They were startled to find out that hours later, the victim was already lying on the grass with a slit on his throat that almost decapitated his head from his body, and immediately reported what they saw to the police.

Upon examination by authorities, Rosales also had multiple stab wounds to the chest and other parts of the body.

"The suspect must have been very infuriated with the victim that he could commit such a crime. We think that he was stabbed by the suspect multiple times first before slashing his neck that almost beheaded him," Cabagnot said in Cebuano.

Police investigation is ongoing. (GPL)
