AN 18-YEAR-OLD man suffering from a mental disability has been murdered by an unidentified person in Barangay Can-asujan, Carcar.

The victim’s body was found at 11:40 p.m. Sunday, June 12, 2022.

Police identified the victim as Renante Rosales, 18, who had lived with his sister and her husband in the area.

The victim was said to have been raised by the Department of Social Welfare and Development in Mandaue City since he was a child because of his mental disability.

Police have no clue yet on who is responsible for the crime.

Carcar City Police Chief Lt. Col. Ardioleto Cabagnot told Superbalita Cebu that Rosales had been spotted by his two neighbors heading home from his visit to his aunt’s house.

The two neighbors were startled to find out that hours later, the victim was already lying on the grass with a gruesome knife wound on his throat that almost severed his head from his body.

After seeing the victim’s body, they immediately reported what they had seen to the police.

Upon examination by authorities, Rosales also had multiple stab wounds to the chest and other parts of the body.

“The suspect must have been infuriated with the victim that he could commit such a crime. We think that he was stabbed multiple times first before his neck was knifed,” Cabagnot said in Cebuano.

Police investigation is ongoing.
