THREE-TIME world title challenger Richie Mepranum will face unbeaten Aussie prospect Sam Goodman in an eight round fight on Dec. 22, 2021 at The Star Event Centre in Sydney, Australia.

After a break of close to two years due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Mepranum had a successful ring return last Oct. 29, 2021 in Gen. Santos City. He demolished battle-scarred veteran Nicardo Calamba in just two rounds.

This will be the first time that Mepranum will be fighting a credible opponent since losing to World Boxing Council (WBC) No. 7 ranked super bantamweight Ladumo Lamati via a 10th round stoppage in an International Boxing Federation (IBF) Inter-Continental super bantamweight fight in South Africa in 2019.

The 34-year-old Mepranum challenged for a world title already three times in his 16-year career. He first fought for the vacant World Boxing Organization (WBO) flyweight title but was stopped by Julio Cesar Miranda in five rounds in Mexico in 2010. Four years later, Mepranum challenged then WBO and World Boxing Association (WBA) flyweight champion Juan Francisco Estrada and lost via a ninth round stoppage in Mexico. Mepranum tried his luck in Mexico for the third time but he was stopped by then WBC super flyweight champion Carlos Cuadras in eight rounds in 2016.

Mepranum has also fought some elite names like Luis Nery, Arthur Villanueva and Denkaosan Kaovichit.

The 23-year-old Goodman is coming off a huge sixth round technical knockout win over Nort Beaucamp to win the Australian National Boxing Federation Australasian featherweight strap last June 16, 2021 in Sydney.

Goodman owns wins over Pinoy Claudevan Sese and Indonesian gatekeeper Noldi Manakane.

Mepranum is 36-8-1 with 11 knockouts, while Goodman is 9-0 with five knockouts.
