THE Meralco Bolts kept their season alive as they pulled off a 78-71 win over the San Miguel Beermen in the quarterfinals of the PBA Philippine Cup on Friday, November 13, at the Angeles University Foundation Sports Arena in Pampanga.

Black, the son of Meralco head coach Norman Black, ended up with 14 points, including three triples in the fourth canto that helped keep the Beermen at bay when they pulled to within four, after trailing by as much as 16 points.

The ageless Reynel Hugnatan paced Meralco with 16 points and seven rebounds while Baser Amer and Chris Newsome had 12 and 11 markers, respectively. Bong Quinto missed out on a double-double with nine points and 13 rebounds.

The loss pushed San Miguel to the brink of elimination. The rubbermatch between these two teams will be on Sunday.
