THE Meralco Bolts sizzled in the fourth quarter where they uncorked 15 unanswered points to pull away from the Barangay Ginebra Kings and register a 96-77 win in Game Two of the best-of-five semifinals series in the PBA Philippine Cup on Friday, November 20, at the Angeles University Foundation Sports Arena in Pampanga.
The win evened the series up at 1-1 with Game Three set on Sunday.
Meralco was up by three, 70-67, when they unleashed a scintillating 15-0 run built on the shotmaking of Reynel Hugnatan, Chris Newsome and Baser Amer, who had two triples during that stretch to help the Bolts build an 85-67 lead with 5:14 remaining.
Not long after, Ginebra head coach Tim Cone pulled all his starters out and waved the white flag.
Six different players scored in double-figures for Meralco led by Newsome who had 16 points, four rebounds and six assists.
Allein Maliksi and Bong Quinto had 14 markers each, while Cliff Hodge added 12 markers and 11 boards.
Raymond Almazan also had a double-double of his own with 11 points and 11 rebounds even as Amer ended up with 10 points. (JNP)
