Miel Fajardo continues win streak, beats Thai opponent in Bangkok

IT WAS a quick night for world-rated Miel Fajardo after knocking out Sarawut Jiamthong in just 10 seconds with a single punch in their Asian Boxing Federation flyweight belt last Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2022, at the Spaceplus Bangkok RCA in Bangkok, Thailand.

Fajardo threw a couple of jabs and then landed a vicious left hook to the head that dropped Jiamthong on his back.

Referee Kris Sandayej didn’t bother to finish his count and stopped the fight after seeing that Jiamthong was still dazed and out of the fight.

The 22-year-old Fajardo continued his undefeated run and improved to 10-1-2 with nine knockouts, while Jiamthong fell to 7-3 with seven knockouts.

Fajardo hasn’t suffered a loss since losing to ArAr Andales in 2017.

Fajardo hopes to improve his spot in the world rankings and get a world title shot soon.

He’s currently rated No. 11 by the World Boxing Association, No. 12 by the International Boxing Federation, No. 14 by the World Boxing Organization and No. 16 by the World Boxing Council as a light flyweight.

On the other hand, Ador Torres, the other Pinoy pug in the card, demolished Thai Meechaiya Kaiwiset to win the ABF welterweight strap.

The 27-year-old Torres won his third straight fight in Thailand and improved to 7-4-1 with four knockouts.

Kaiwiset dropped to 3-2 with a knockout.
