Militants march to Mendiola, give PNoy rude birthday greeting

Militant groups on Friday joined the nation in greeting President Benigno Aquino III a happy 53rd birthday, but with a rude twist.

Several militants marched to Mendiola Bridge near Malacañang to mark Aquino's birthday—with balloons and the customary protest placards.

A report by dzBB's Cecilia Villarosa said the militants called on Aquino to prioritize the poor by giving more attention to housing, education and health.

But they also called on Aquino to junk the RP-US Visiting Forces Agreement and to stop the demolition of shanties in urban poor communities.

They likewise called on him to effect geunine agrarian reform.

Also, the militants scored Aquino for supposedly getting older but not wiser in managing the country. —KG, GMA News
