IF YOU are from Minglanilla town and is planning to go outside of the municipality, you better wear a face mask.
This, as the Minglanilla Municipal Council passed an ordinance penalizing anyone who is caught not wearing a face mask in public.
The measure, Ordinance 11 Series of 2020, requires all residents of the town to wear face masks when in public while the entire province of Cebu is under community quarantine.
The measure was approved during the Minglanilla Municipal Council's regular session held on April 14, 2020.
Violators caught not wearing face masks in public places will be fined with P300 for the first offense and P500 for the second and succeeding offenses.
But municipal officials allowed residents to wear all kinds of face masks such as surgical masks, earloop masks, reusable or do-it-yourself masks, handkerchiefs or any other cloth face coverings as long its protects the person from being infected with coronavirus.
The ordinance was necessary considering that Minglanilla's Covid-19 cases have increased drastically since the past two months.
As of June 15, 72 people have already been infected with the new coronavirus in Minglanilla, with 58 active cases, 12 recoveries and two mortalities.
Out of the town's 19 barangays, Linao-Lipata currently has the highest number of Covid-19 cases, with 26 coronavirus-positive persons. (ANV/JKV)
