Minions' spinoff in 2014

27 Aug - It looks like there will be more shenanigans to be had by the yellow pipsqueaks besides fighting over a banana, with Universal Pictures having confirmed a release date for the yet-to-be-titled "Despicable Me" minions' spinoff.

According to Deadline, the spinoff by Illumination Entertainment will open on 19 December 2014.

The spinoff is set to feature the minions from the 2010 hit "Despicable Me" in an all new storyline which sees the yellow oddballs interacting with other human characters.

The comedy adventure will be filmed in 3D. The 3D animated feature film also marks the 5th movie in Illumination's partnership with Universal.

"Puss In Boots" writer Brian Lynch will provide the script, while Pierre Coffin and Chris Renaud, both of whom also helmed the original "Despicable Me" and its upcoming sequel. Kyle Balda will co-direct.

Catch the minions next in "Despicable Me 2", which opens 3 July 2013.
