FIVE adults allegedly engaged in illegal numbers game were nabbed, while a minor was rescued by authorities in Dumanjug town, southwest Cebu on Sunday evening, September 4, 2022.

Operatives of the Regional Intelligence Division headed by Lieutenant Colonel Ronnie Failoga and Dumanjug Police Station, conducted three separate anti-illegal gambling operations that led to the arrest of suspected swertres ushers who are all from Dumanjug, namely, Rosalie Villalon, 31, of Barangay Balaygtiki; Gwendolyn Ricardel, 36, of Barangay Minolos; Louige Bendanillo Pasatiempo, 28, of Barangay Candabong; Josephine Colinares 43, of Barangay Tapon; and Arnel Lai Cabonilas, 42, of Barangay Balaygtiki.

A 15-year-old girl, teller of the swertres booth, was rescued.

The police confiscated P700 cash believed to be proceeds from the sale of swertres and illegal gambling paraphernalia.

Police identified Richard and Efren, both surnamed Tampos, as the financiers of illegal numbers game, commonly called as “masiao.”

Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) had earlier announced that only those outlets of Saturn Gaming N' Amusement Corporation are authorized to accept swertres betting.

The suspects were brought to Dumanjug Police Station for detention, while the minor was turned over to the barangay where she resides. (BBT, TPT)
