The People's Reform Party, founded by the late Sen. Miriam Defensor-Santiago, has resolved to adopt Lakas-CMD candidate Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio as its vice presidential bet.

"It hereby RESOLVED, to adopt MAYOR SARA DUTERTE-CARPIO of Lakas-CMD PARTY as the party's candidate for VICE PRESIDENT of the Philippines in the 9 May 2022 National Elections," read the party's resolution that was made public on Wednesday (November 17).

This follows President Rodrigo Duterte’s endorsement of his long-time aide Christopher “Bong” Go for president and his daughter Sara for vice.

Duterte-Carpio, however, said Tuesday that the administration party PDP-Laban, which includes the elder Duterte, refused to endorse her candidacy for the second-highest position in 2022.

“My party... asked for support for Bongbong Marcos and myself,” she said. "The PDP has rejected this and we understand it."

The other leading vice presidential contenders for next year's elections are Senate President Vicente "Tito" Sotto III running alongside Senator Ping Lacson, Senator Kiko Pangilinan running alongside Vice President Leni Robredo, House Deputy Speaker Lito Atienza running alongside Senator Manny Pacquiao, Dr. Willie Ong running alongside Manila Mayor Isko Moreno, and former politician Walden Bello running alongside labor leader Ka Leody de Guzman.
