CEBU City Acting Mayor Michael Rama could not help but look at the time when Miss Universe Philippines 2021 Beatrice Luigi “Bea” Gomez was not yet a winner in the beauty pageant.

Rama said there were “few in attendance” when Gomez visited Cebu City Hall for the first time.

“So many came when she came back now as a winner,” he said.

Gomez, 26, visited the City Hall on Tuesday, November 2, 2021, after she was crowned last September 30.

Rama said he will work with the Cebu City Tourism Council headed by Jocelyn Pesquera to help Gomez get the Miss Universe crown.

He said they will conduct a fund drive, so they “can be of help in her travel to Israel.”

Gomez succeeded Miss Universe Philippines 2020 Rabiya Mateo of Iloilo City.

She will represent the Philippines in the 70th Miss Universe pageant in Eilat, Israel in December 2021, where Andrea Meza of Mexico will crown her successor.

Gomez had visited Rama last September before the hosting of Miss Universe Philippines.

During the visit, the Cebuana beauty, a member of the LGBT community, wore her uniform of the Philippine Navy where she is a reservist with the rank of sergeant.

Rama did not disclose yet any amount that will be given to Gomez.

The acting mayor gave Gomez a small gold-plated image of the Sto. Niño, hoping that prayers to the Holy Child would help her win the Miss Universe crown. (PAC)
