METRO Manila Development Authority (MMDA) spokesperson and assistant secretary Celine Pialago filed on Wednesday, October 9, cyberlibel charges against the people behind two social media pages for posting “fake news” that she said has affected her performance and effectivity.
Pialago filed the charges before the Philippine National Police (PNP) Anti-Cybercrime Group (ACG) against the administrators of satire social media sites Facebook page Pinoy Laugh Page and Twitter page Barurot News.
Both had posted a photo of Pielago with the blurb, “MMDA to commuters: Kung nahihirapan sumakay, 'wag na lang pumasok".

“We never said this, I never said this, even mga opisyal natin, walang nagsabi nito. This is technically and obviously a fake news, false statement,” Pielago said.
She said her complaint is limited to the administrators of the page and does not include those who shared and spread ithe post as she believes that they were also victims of fake news.
Pialago said the post has been deleted.
Police Colonel Ramon Gamboa, chief of the cyber response unit, said they will trace the administrators of the social media pages through the internet protocol (IP) address and location and they will also coordinate with Facebook.
He said the two social media accounts seem fictitious.
“'Yung mga identity ng tao dito, naka-hide so 'yun 'yung ating iniimbestigahan ngayon, kung sino 'yung administrator," Gamboa said.
He said it will take time for them to trace the said people. (SunStar Philippines)
