FILIPINO super featherweight prospect John Vincent Moralde returns to action on Oct. 17 after testing positive for Covid-19 in July.
Moralde will trade leathers with Mexican up-and-comer Jose Enrique Vivas in the undercard of the Vasyl Lomachenko vs. Teofimo Lopez show at “The Bubble” of the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The 26-year-old Moralde was supposed to fight last July 16 against Alexis Del Bosque. However, he tested positive for Covid-19 just a day before the fight day, forcing him to pull out of the fight.
Moralde is currently training at the Moro’s Gym in Miami, Florida along with fellow Filipino fighters Mark Bernaldez, James Bacon and Reymart Gaballo.
Moralde, the former World Boxing Council (WBC) Asian Boxing Council Continental featherweight champion, last saw action on Dec. 21, 2019, in which he stopped Matias Agustin Arriagada in the opening round of their fight in Miami. He has won two in a row since losing to Xavier Martinez in 2019.
On the other hand, Vivas is also a winner of his last two contests. He retired Saul Banos in five rounds in Mexico and then beat previously unbeaten Carlos Jackson via unanimous decision in Las Vegas last July 2.
Moralde is 23-3 with 13 knockouts. Vivas is 19-1 with 10 knockouts. (EKA)
