Mother continues to seek justice for daughter’s murder

THREE years after her daughter met her gruesome end, Lourdes Silawan Pardillo believes the killer is still out there.

The body of Christine Lee Silawan, a 16-year-old high school student and church collector, was found in a vacant lot in Lapu-Lapu City on March 11, 2019. Her face had been mutilated and she was stabbed several times. She was naked from the waist down.

Pardillo, 51, told SunStar Cebu on Monday, October 31, 2022, she still could not accept what happened to her daughter.

“Isip usa ka inahan ni Christine Lee, hangtod karon bisan pila na katuig ang nilabay, wa pa gyud nako madawat kay gani sa akoang kasakit nga naagian karon, nia akoy nag-antos tanan,” Pardillo said.

(As her mother, until now despite the years that have passed, I have never accepted even with the pain I am going through now, I bear all the suffering.)

Pardillo had refused to sign the affidavit provided by the Lapu-Lapu City Police Office unless her daughter’s former boyfriend, who was pinpointed by the National Bureau of Investigation Central Visayas as one of the killers, was included in the complaint. (MKG, PJB)
