A grieving mother has died just two weeks after her son was killed in a car crash along with two other teenagers.

Sara Jane Smith had been mourning the death of her son, Martin Ward, 18, who died in Rotherham, South Yorkshire, on 24 October.

He was killed along with friends Mason Hall and Ryan Geddes, both 19, when the white Ford Fiesta they were travelling in collided with a tree.

It is not known how Ms Smith died.

Her death is believed to be the fourth involving the family in the past year.

Two relatives - Josh Hydes, 20, and his 24-year-old uncle, Tommy Hydes, died in a separate car crash in January when their vehicle went through railings and into the River Don in Sheffield.

Speaking after her son Martin's death, Ms Smith said: “Mason was a very close friend of Martin’s.

“They have basically grown up together and he was like a stepson to me.

“Martin was a lovable little rogue and he had the biggest heart out of most people I know.

“They were both such loving kids and will be so sadly missed.
