Motorcycle rider dies in smashup in Badian

A 27-year old man died after his motorcycle collided head-on with a tricycle in Barangay Ginablan, Badian town, southwest Cebu on Thursday, June 16, 2022.

Lieutenant Etelberto Timagos, chief of Badian Police Station, identified the victim as Hadrian Jade Manlunas Leceña, a native of Montañeza, Malabuyoc, Cebu and the tricycle driver as Samuel Cauba Tabanao, 45, of Barangay Ginablan, Badian, Cebu.

Police investigation showed that Leceña and Tabanao bumped each other on a curved road in Ginablan around 1:20 p.m. on Thursday.

Leceña reportedly lost control of his motorcycle while maneuvering a curve and collided head-on with the tricycle driven by Tabanao from the opposite direction.

Leceña fell into the concrete pavement. He was brought by the municipality's rescue team to Badian District Hospital but was declared dead by attending physician.

The family of Leceña went to the hospital to claim the victim's body.

Tabanao is currently detained at the Badian Police Station and will be facing charges of Reckless Imprudence Resulting to Homicide and Damage to Property. (GDC, TPT)
