Motornapper who ignored checkpoint nabbed after brief chase

A SUSPECTED motornapper who did not stop at a checkpoint in Barangay Tabunok, Talisay City was arrested by police following a brief chase Monday afternoon, August 15, 2022.

The 20-year-old suspect identified as John Mathew Canindo was asked by the police to pull over for an inspection but he did not stop.

A chase ensued until Canindo was cornered along Rabaya Street in Tabunok.

The police found out that the motorcycle used by the suspect was not his but a stolen one.

During his arrest, the suspect also yielded five packs of substance believed to be shabu.

It was learned that the suspect has pending cases for motornapping in the cities of Talisay and Lapu-Lapu and Argao town.

He has also another pending drug case in Argao.

Police said the suspect would befriend the owners of motorcycles and once he befriended them, he would then borrow their motorcycles without returning it.

If the motorcycle owner is a girl, he would court her first before borrowing her motorcycle. (BBT, TPT)
