Muntinlupa seeks new Guinness World Record

Manila, Philippines - Parents and students in Muntinlupa City will attempt to break a Guinness World Record on most adults reading to children in a single location to celebrate the 19th Muntinlupa Cityhood anniversary on March 1.

A total of 9,500 parents will read the children's book "Love You Forever" by Robert Munsch to 9,500 children from Grades 4, 5, 7 and 8 at the same time for a total of 19,000 individuals to set a new record.

Currently, the Guinness World Record on most adults reading to children in a single location is owned by the Changhua county government in Taiwan, which had 3,682 adults read to 4,074 children at an event in Changhua City on April 24, 2011.

The Muntinlupa event will be held at 7AM on March 1 at Filinvest Corporate City in Alabang, according to DepEd Muntinlupa Supt. Priscila de Sagun, who came up with the idea of setting a Guinness World Record.

According to DepEd Muntinlupa, participants will wear red, blue, white and yellow shirts and caps and will form the Philippine flag and the city creed "Yan ang Tama, Yan ang Muntinlupa."

DepEd Muntinlupa's application for the event has already been received and acknowledged by the Guinness World Records.
