Mushekwi staying at Downs

Sundowns striker Nyasha Mushekwi is unlikely to join Greuther Furth, according to the German club's president Helmut Hack.

Mushekwi, on target in the MTN8 semi-final loss to Moroka Swallows on Sunday, returned to South Africa two days earlier from a trial at the Bundesliga newcomers.

The powerful Zimbabwean, however, failed to impress in Bavaria, with Downs seemingly doing little to help his prospects.

"We don't think it is right to add another player to our squad at this time," Hack said in the Sowetan.

"He (Mushekwi) should have come to us three weeks earlier but his club were playing games. He was at the airport five times ready to fly before he was eventually given permission to leave.

"Then we organised a friendly match so that we could see him play but his club refused to allow him to compete. The impression for us from just three training sessions is not enough for us to make a decision. It makes it difficult for us to sign him."
