NAGA CITY, Philippines – The City Council has decided to place the entire city of Naga under state of calamity following the devastation caused by Typhoon Tisoy.

The declaration will allow the local government access to its calamity fund to provide for the needs of the affected residents.

As of Wednesday morning, power lines in the entire city remained cut but authorities said they are now working on restoring power.

On Monday, Typhoon Tisoy made landfall in the nearby province of Sorsogon which caused massive damage in affected cities.

According to state weather service PAGASA, Tisoy is expected to leave the country by Thursday.

City officials said they have already started clearing operations since Wednesday morning.  MNP (with inputs from Nel Maribojoc)
