Naked dead body of 15-year-old female student found; police have persons of interest

POLICE have persons of interest in the death of a 15-year-old female student of the Northern Cebu Colleges Incorporated in Bogo City.

Victim Jeanelle Maekylla Royos’ naked body was found in the bushes in Purok Magenta, Barangay Gairan in the same city around 3 p.m. on Sunday, November 13, 2022.

Royos was reported missing by her family on Saturday after she didn’t come home from a birthday party in the neighboring town of Medellin on Friday night.

Lieutenant Colonel Florendo Fajardo, Bogo City Police Station chief, said the perpetrators were captured on surveillance cameras but their faces could not be seen clearly.

He said they would check the surveillance cameras of establishments in the area in the hope of getting a clearer video.

He said they already have the nicknames of the persons of interest.

“We won’t divulge their identities as of yet since we’re still conducting a follow-up investigation. We will let you know once we corroborate the evidence and the statements of possible witnesses,” the police chief said in Cebuano on Monday, November 14.

Fajardo said one of the persons of interest could be seen entering the crime scene and when he left he was wearing another shirt.

Meanwhile, the autopsy on the victim’s body conducted by the medico-legal officer showed that Royos’ hymen remained intact.

However, Fajardo said this doesn’t mean the victim wasn’t raped.

Royos had stab wounds in her legs and arms as well as in both sides of her neck, which suggested that she tried to resist her attackers.

Mavelle Royos Sinadjan, the victim’s mother, told radio dyHP, that her daughter went to the birthday party with her girlfriend on Friday night.

Sinadjan was surprised that Royos still hadn’t returned home at 4 a.m. on Saturday so she texted the girlfriend who replied that Royos had dropped her off at home around midnight. (AYB, PJB)
