HOSTS Nakhon Ratchasima gave Choco Mucho a rude welcome as they handed the Philippines squad a 25-11, 28-26, 25-17, defeat at the start of the Asian Women’s Club Volleyball Championship on Friday, October 1, 2021, at the Terminal 21 competition hall in Thailand.

Chatchu-on Moksri and Kannika Thipachot were the protagonists for the Thai team as they shot up to nab the early lead in Pool A of the preliminary stage of this competition.

The Filipinas showed life in the second set, thanks to the inspired play of Kalei Mau, Mylene Pat and Cebuana setter Deanna Wong, and even had set point on two occasions. However, consecutive errors helped the Thais grab the lead at 25-24. Scores by Dell Palomata and Paat put the Filipinas back in front once again at 26-25.

However, Nakhon Ratchasima’s Thipachot and Moksri gave the Thais game-point before Kaewpin rammed in an ace to give them the set and a 2-0 advantage.

Choco Mucho will try to redeem themselves on Saturday when they clash against Zhetyssu at 1:30 p.m. (JGS)
