NAT’S Fishcrackers outlasted the Suarez Water Treatment, 84-81, to capture the championship in the Southside Basketball League Season 4 at the Benedicto College gym on Sunday, Dec. 15, 2019.

It was a game that went back and forth with Nat’s Fishcrackers taking a 36-28 lead at halftime before Suarez came roaring back to take the lead, 57-52, with just 10 more minutes left to play.

However, Nat’s Fishcrackers would have the final say in the proceedings as Rex Tuazon, who was named the Finals Most Valuable Player, and big man Junrie Hoybia, combined to hit the big shots down the stretch to give them the victory and the championship.

Tuazon led Nat’s Fishcrackers with 16 points while Hoybia almost had a double-double with 12 points and eight rebounds to go with an assist and a block.

Joemarie Beldoro scored 16 for Suarez, while Dave Cabanilla finished with 14 points, five boards, two assists and two steals.

Macky January of the Irish was named the season’s MVP, while the Mythical Five awardees were Hoybia and Lino Martel of Nat’s, Anjun Roquinaza of Brayden’s Food Products, Jay Minoza of the Outkazts and Julian Yusingco of Suarez. (JNP)
