Your neighborhood healthy grocer

The increasing number of restaurants and stores specializing in healthy food and products is evidence that people are now more conscious of what they consume. It’s a big change unlike before, when finding healthy options for meal preparations were usually either not available in the country or are always out of stock.

In a bustling street in Barangay Kasambagan, Cebu City, specifically in Tancor 1, Villa Aurora, there’s this healthy supermarket that showcases both local and international farm-fresh produce, and pantry essentials including hard-to-find ones, must-tries, and one-of-a-kind food finds that you will want to stock up on.

Prutasan Ni Adan, which is famous for its premium fruit basket and exotic fruits, has opened a healthy grocer to accommodate its growing clientele who take pleasure in physical shopping and get an up-close and personal look at the products which are posted on its Instagram and Facebook pages.

From local bananas, berries from U.S.A. and Korea, Taiwanese atis or custard apple, Japanese sweet potato to exotic ones like Kiwi berries, plumcots (a plum-apricot hybrid), Kadsura Coccinea (or known as black tiger in China), even the smallest pumpkin in the world, Prutasan Ni Adan has got you covered.

Though it used to have two small fruit stands; one in Mabolo, and the other one in Lapu-Lapu, its owners Bobby and Shera Mae Adan decided to open a bigger store where they will be able to offer not only fresh produce from all over the world but also pantry essentials, snacks and drinks that are locally made and sourced outside the country.

Now with a bigger and even better physical store, Prutasan Ni Adan promises its loyal patrons the best and best and most efficient shopping experience as one can inquire or order ahead through its social media pages for convenience, and have items prepared for you. You can also opt to have your orders delivered straight to your doorstep.

Aside from its shelves and refrigerators filled with fresh fruits and vegetables, Prutasan Ni Adan also has refrigerators dedicated to frozen goods, organic drinks, and ready-to-eat food, and shelves filled with dry goods.

“We are slowly filling this store with essentials so our patrons don’t have to go from one store to another to get their weekly groceries,” Bobby shared.

Bobby, who is now “King of Prutas” to his friends and clients, props his success to bananas—how it all started. He began this entrepreneurial journey of his by selling bananas to his previous corporate workplace.

“In my previous workplace, there were around 5,000 employees in a company and these employees consume one banana per day. Imagine how many consumers you will get if you will be able to supply more than one company with this number of employees.”

Bobby found an opportunity to supply bananas to his previous company and then to other companies around him. From then on, he decided to leave his corporate life to become a full-time banana supplier.

Later on, he expanded his offering to fruits, then premium and exotic fruits until he became the sole distributor of some imported brands to Cebu.

Prutasan Ni Adan got famous for its premium fruit baskets during the lockdown since most fruit baskets available in Cebu are usually available during Christmas and New Year.

“Since people can’t go out during that time, we deliver fruits for them. Most of our clients order fruit baskets as care packages to their employees, friends and family,” he said.

Its fruit baskets come with themes and can be personalized upon a customer’s request.

It usually collaborates with local brands as its way of helping and promoting local products.

At Prutasan Ni Adan, customers don’t only get their groceries done but also discover rare and exotic fruits this world has to offer.

Prutasan Ni Adan is open every day from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
