On sked for Nov. 25 to 28, 2021, at Montebello Villa Hotel is The Visayas Art Fair, an undertaking of the Cebu Design Week (CDW) in collaboration with the National Commission for Culture and the Arts. This is a timely activity in these challenging times for the domestic art community.
The art fair brings together Regions 6, 7 and 8 in the Visayas to present to the world the identity of the Visayan arts and culture. Aside from the visual arts exhibition, lined up are complementary programs like the CDW PopUp Market, art talks, art installations and performances that will help foster a vibrant and dynamic creative hub in the Visayas. Hopefully, this very first Visayas Art Fair will result in more sustainable support for our artists and creatives so they can develop and thrive, and thus jumpstart our creative economy through the visual arts.
Though more subdued these days, weddings are very much on the scene. Big wedding receptions are out; intimate outdoor wedding parties are in.
A two-day wedding fair dubbed “Lasting New Beginnings” unfolded at Circa 1900 in Lahug three weeks ago. Different areas at the venue were “dressed up” by selected event suppliers for memorable wedding receptions. Highlight of the affair was the “Golden Hour Fashion Show,” a fashion parade showcasing the creations of Cebu’s talented designers.
