Neri: Around town

·2 min read

Il Corso is a lovely addition to the “must see/go-to” places in town. An expansive complex by the sea developed by Filinvest, it is a one-of-a-kind lifestyle destination for shopping and dining.

The newest attraction in its Central Piazza is the dancing musical fountain (the first one in Cebu) called The Stellar. It made its debut on a balmy Sunday evening when the moon was bright and oh-so-yellow. Present during the milestone were Cebu City Mayor Mike Rama, Vice Mayor Dondon Hontiveros and Vice Mayor-elect Raymond Garcia.

Looking proud and happy at the party were Filinvest Development Corp. Utilities president and chief executive officer Juan Roxas and Filinvest Land Inc. president Tristan Las Marias. Meanwhile, busy with host duties were the Filinvest/Il Corso team: JP Escario, general manager for the Visayas, Filinvest Malls; Denise Lagayan, assistant vice president for Marketing, Lifemalls by Filinvest; George Calles, senior marketing manager of Il Corso Lifemalls; and marketing lead Hanski Garcia.

The Stellar takes off and “dances” to lively music on weekends: Friday to Sunday every 30 minutes from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

Things are perking up at Carbon Market. Its makeover and modernization (under the auspices of Megawide) is ongoing and dramatic changes are taking place.

Two weeks ago, the Sunday Night Market was launched at the area called Carbon Bagsakan. Stalls with typical Cebuano food and delicacies as well as handmade crafts and local products were all over the place. An initiative of the Cebu2World Development (a Megawide subsidiary), the weekly market aims to to contribute to the business recovery in our city by providing a venue for small entrepreneurs to sell their products. The place is expected to be a tourist come-on.

The occasion also saw the turnover of two dump trucks donated by Megawide to the city through its top executive Louie Ferrer. It was a happy and lively occasion for the Carbon community.
