The newest landmark in Mactan is the Sheraton Cebu Mactan Resort, one of the high-end brands in Marriott Bonvoy’s portfolio, and the first resort in the Philippines of Marriott International. The imposing, spanking new resort by the sea stands majestic with a view of the neighboring islands.

Inauguration day three weeks ago was dubbed “Himamat,” the Bisaya word meaning to greet. Yes, it was “himamat” time when the resort officially opened its doors and welcomed guests from near and far. On the front line were the property developers, the dynamic couple of AppleOne Properties, Rey Manigsaca (president/chief executive officer) and wife, engineer Venus Manigsaca who is the chairman; and the Marriott top guns: Duke Nam, Marriott International’s area vice president for Korea and the Philippines, and Bruce Winton, vice president, Multi-Property-Philippines of Marriott International.

The afternoon began with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the entrance of the L-shaped building and went on to a well-scripted program at the grand ballroom. What followed was a sumptuous sit-down dinner highlighted by dance presentations. Very much the lady-of-the-hour was resort general manager Dottie Wurgler-Cronin.

Mott 32 has been the talk of the town ever since it had its soft opening a full moon ago at the elegant premises of the NUSTAR Resort & Casino, the newest five-star integrated complex in our Queen City. This classy Chinese restaurant had its beginnings in Hong Kong but has expanded globally and is now in Las Vegas, Vancouver, Singapore, Bangkok, Dubai and our dear hometown.

Top-rated and multi-awarded, Mott 32 is named after a street in New York where the first Chinese convenience store was established in 1891. The restaurant offers Chinese cuisine featuring time-honored recipes handed down from generation to generation but cooked with Mott 32’s signature flair. Yes, innovative cooking techniques paired with premium ingredients make for that much-acclaimed Mott 32 dining experience.

From the restaurant decor and ambiance to the food presentation and taste, Mott 32 is a standout. No flashy reds or glaring lanterns for the interiors but subdued colors and lighting. As for the food, the restaurant is known for its array of the best in Cantonese cuisine as well as other traditional Chinese favorites. Not to be missed is it’s famed Apple Wood Roasted 42-day Peking Duck and Iberico Pork with Yellow Mountain Honey. The list goes on and actually nothing should be missed! Everything on the menu is TOPS!
