JPARK Island Resorts and Waterpark chairman Justin Uy was the happiest and proudest face during the 10th anniversary of his JPark. The grand affair also marked the opening of its newest attraction, the Pororo Park, and the launching of the Triton Grand Ballroom, the new addition to the resort facilities.

A year after their civil wedding, Gabby Leyson and Tina Jordana said their vows during a nuptial mass at the St. Francis Xavier chapel of the Sacred Heart Church. It was a simple but meaningful ceremony with family and close friends in attendance. A dinner reception followed at Casino Español de Cebu.

Madrid has been home to Tita Franco Juete for five decades or so but she comes for a visit regularly to touch base with family and dear friends. Her last visit two months ago coincided with the visit of my sisters Elma Garcia Muangkroot, who now lives in Bangkok, and Dr. Zenda Garcia Lat, who is based in New Jersey. We were neighbors during our growing up years and the timing was perfect for a get-together. With Tita’s sister Lucy Franco Garcia, we had a delightful reunion over dinner at Tin Gow.

Dr. Jerome Sarmiento of the Borough Medical Care Institute was one of the frontliners during the opening of the Eye Center of ARC Hospital in Barangay Agus, Lapu-Lapu City. The eye center is an affiliate of Borough Center for Sight. ARC Hospital is patterned after the St. Elizabeth Singapore Hospital.

Francisco “Paco” Magsaysay, the originator of Carmen’s Best Ice Cream, presided over an ice-cream tasting party at Marco Polo Plaza Cebu’s Cafe Marco to introduce his best sellers, among them, Salted Caramel, Hokey Pokey, Cookie Dough, Malted Milk etc. His ice cream is made of 100 percent cow’s milk and is Halal certified.

Rustan’s Jackie Avecilla, marketing and communications head for Beauty products, and April Marquez, division manager for key cosmetic brands, were in town for the fourth run of Rustan’s Beauty Addict, this year dubbed “GLOW Beauty and Beats Festival. It was a fun affair with fun installations, activity booths and a wonderland of bright lights. And yes, a lot of beauties were around to shop for—you guessed it—beauty products!

Oro China Jewelry chief executive officer Jennifer Ty introduced Iza Calzado as its latest brand ambassador during a media dinner at Radisson Blu Cebu. That was the day before the exclusive preview of Oro China’s 2019 Holiday Collection which was highlighted by the fashion show of designer Michael Leyva. He saw to it that his creations complemented the jewelry line.
